Burnaby Chinese Evangelical Free Church (BCEFC) is a 35-year-old church with a growing congregation of approximately 240 people, serving through Cantonese, Mandarin, youth, and children’s ministries.
As we look toward the future, we are seeking an English Ministry Pastor to help us establish and develop a new English Ministry, beginning with our high school students and growing with them into young adulthood and beyond.
Our vision is to provide a clear and sustainable spiritual pathway for the next generation. Rather than having our youth reach the end of high school without a continuing church community, we desire to help our high school students gradually transition into an English-speaking ministry where they can continue to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, develop meaningful Christian community, serve according to their gifts, and eventually take part in leading and building the ministry.
The English Ministry Pastor will work closely with our pastoral team, youth leaders, parents, and emerging young leaders to develop this ministry from its early stages into a healthy, Christ-centred, and growing English-speaking community.
Key Ministry Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual leadership and direction in establishing and developing the English Ministry.
- Work closely with the existing Youth Ministry, with particular attention to helping high school students gradually transition into the developing English Ministry.
- Preach and teach the Word of God faithfully and in ways that connect with the next generation.
- Build relationships with high school students, university students, young adults, and others who may become part of the English-speaking community.
- Develop discipleship, fellowship, worship, pastoral care, and outreach as the English Ministry grows.
- Identify, mentor, and equip emerging young leaders for ministry and leadership.
- Create opportunities for young people to serve and take increasing ownership of the ministry.
- Work collaboratively with the pastoral team and other ministries of the church.
- Help shape and implement a long-term vision for a sustainable, intergenerational English-speaking ministry.
